ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has finalized its decision concerning the allocation of reserved seats in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Assembly, granting the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) an extra seat following their request.
According to the ECP’s ruling, PML-N has gained one more reserved seat, increasing their total to nine. The Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) maintains nine seats as well, while the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has secured five. Additionally, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Parliamentarians (PTI-P) and the Awami National Party (ANP) have each been allocated one additional reserved seat.
A significant development is the awarding of a minority seat to PML-N in the KP Assembly, marking an increase in their representation.
The ECP also announced that a drawing of lots will be conducted between the ANP and PTI-P to decide the allocation of one remaining reserved seat for women among 26 seats that are still pending a decision.
This announcement follows the conclusion of hearings and the reservation of the verdict the previous day.
