Islamabad:The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has refused to award the Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA) symbol to Fahmida Mirza from NA-233 Badin.
The ECP and an election tribunal rejected the plea of Fahmida Mirza saying that from NA-233 the GDA symbol was already allotted to her son Hassam Mirza as per the form 33.
Hassam Mirza didn’t withdraw his nomination papers to date.
The party symbol can’t be issued to another candidate from the same constituency adding the process to give the party certificate and allotment of party symbols phase have completed.
The ECP said at this phase the matter can’t be reviewed.
There is an only option left that Returning officer revise the form 33 and Fahmida Mirza be allotted an election symbol as an independent candidate, the ECP suggested.
