Islamabad: Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Tuesday rejected ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) petition for adjournment in foreign funding case.
The ECP bench headed by Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sikandar Sultan Raja heard the PTI foreign funding case.
The CEC remarked that you always asked for adjournment adding that the case has been adjourned for seven years and there will be no adjournment this time.
The counsel of Akbar S Baber in his arguments said that the scruitney committee has confirmed that the PTI hid their accounts while the PTI plea to seperate Akbar S Baber from the case has turned ineffective already and now the commision can’t seperate Akbar S Baber from the hearing because he is part of the process.
The ECP has reserved the verdict on PTI plea to separate Akbar S Baber from the case.
Talking to media Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Farrukh Habib has asked the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to also hear the foreign funding case of other parties including the PPP and the PML-N.
He said both the parties hid their accounts. Farrukh Habib said Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf is the only party which has provided complete record of its funding to the scrutiny committee of the Election Commission.
He said a large number of overseas Pakistanis provide funds to the PTI. He said they sent the money to the party through banking channels.
