ISLAMABAD: Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Monday formally responded to the letter of Opposition Leader Syed Khurshid Shah wherein he had demanded of the ECP to extend the date for verification of voters’ lists, transfer of votes and registration of new voters.

The Commission in its reply stated that in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sindh and Balochistan voters can registers their votes with ECP anytime till December this year.  It further said that vote can also be transferred in the above mentioned provinces any time.

However, the Commission explained, in Punjab a ban has been imposed on registration and transfer of votes due to the scheduled LB elections on reserved seats.

It said that the ban on voters’ registration and transfer in Punjab would be lifted after the election on reserved seats of Local Bodies.
