Islamabad: Chief Justice (CJ) Umar Atta Bandiyal of Supreme Court of Pakistan (SC) on Monday remarked that the verdict on Punjab elections is final adding that the elections are basis of the democracy.
The SC three-member bench headed by CJ Umar Atta Bandiyal, Justice Aijaz Ul Ahsan and Justice Muneeb Akhtar were hearing the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) review petition against the SC verdict of the elections in Punjab.
Chief Justice Umar Atta Bandiyal said remarked “people are jumping from the SC gate as the government is supporting them.”
The CJ said that the court has to see situation as well besides the constitution adding that who will accept the result in the high temperature.
The CJ also questioned the attorney general “why negotiations are not starting?” who will follow the constitutions.
The CJ said that in the presence of peace the situation will move. While he said to the attorney general that consider to release members of negotiation team of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
The PTI counsel Ali Zafar said that the fear spread with the arrest of Imran Khan, to which, the CJ said that he has gotten relief.
On the other hand, the ECP in its reveiw petition raised objection in on the jurisdiction of the court. The top court said that some points are worth considering and it will be decided.
The court said that it will hear all the respondents in the case. While notices are issued to the Attorney gneral, advocate generals and political parties.
The hearing prorogued till next Tuesday.
