ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has instructed members of the Senate, National Assembly and all four provincial assemblies to submit their annual statements of assets and liabilities by December 31.
The declarations must cover the financial year 2025–26 and provide details of assets and liabilities held by lawmakers as of June 30, 2026.
The ECP clarified that the disclosure requirement also extends to the assets of lawmakers’ spouses and dependent children.
According to the commission, the names of members failing to submit their statements by the deadline will be made public on January 1, 2027.
Such lawmakers will be given an additional opportunity to comply by January 15, 2027.
The ECP warned that members who fail to meet the extended deadline will face suspension and will not be allowed to participate in proceedings of their respective legislatures until they submit the required declarations.
The commission also cautioned that providing misleading or false information about assets and liabilities could result in legal proceedings under the relevant laws governing corrupt practices.
