Islamabad: Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has suspended membership of 150 MNAs, MPAs and senate over not submitting their assets details to the election commission body.
Sources said that the ECP has suspended membership of 36 MNAs, three senators and 169 MPAs of Punjab Assembly (PA). While memberships of 14 MPAs of Sindh, 21 of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly and seven members of Balochistan Assembly have been suspended.
The members whose memberships have been suspended included Federal Minister for Religious affairs Noor Ul Haq Qadri, Minister of State for Information Farrukh Habib, and Federal Minister for education Shafqat Mahmood.
Besides that memberships of Fahmida Mirza, Amir Liaqut, Raja Riyaz, Sadaqat Abbassi, Khalid Maqbool Siddique have also been suspended.
Owais Leghari from Punjab Assembly and Sardar Yar Muhmmad Rind from Balochistan Assembly, memberships have also been suspended.
Sources said that the ECP also suspended the membership of PML-N leader Mussadiq Malik and Sikandar Mendharo.
The ECP said that the suspended members can not attend NA, PA and Senate sessions and they can not will take part in any legislation.
