Islamabad: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) meeting regarding new delimitation under the new census which has been notified ended.
The meeting was held in the chair of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sikandar Sultan Raja. The huddle deliberated upon constitutional and legal complications.
The Law Wing of ECP briefed the meeting about constitutional and legal complication. The breifing apprised that there is need of 4 to 5 months for new delimitations under the new digital census.
The ECP will take its final decision regarding the delimitations soon.
Earlier on Wednesday, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) in its meeting could not decide regarding new delimitations under the new census across the country.
The ECP had decided to call today’s meeting to take final decision regarding the delimitations in the country.
Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sikandar Sultan Raja presided the meeting yesterday as well wherein members of the ECP including secretary EC and special secretary and legal team were in attendance.
The meeting had considered new delimitations after the new census while the legal team of the ECP briefed the meeting about legal and constitutional points.
Sources said that the ECP could not reach on final decision while they decided to call today’s consultative meeting.
