ECP Will Announce Foreign Funding Case Against PTI Tomorrow Morning

Islamabad: The Election Commission Of Pakistan (ECP) on Monday announced the date of a verdict of foreign funding case against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

The ECP will pronounce the judgement of the foreign funding case against the PTI tomorrow (Tuesday).

The ECP will announce the verdict of prohibited funding case at 10 am tomorrow.

The ECP had reserved the verdict on June 21 after eight years of hearing.

According to the ECP website, a three-member bench headed by Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sikander Sultan Raja, comprising Nisar Ahmed Durrani and Shah Muhammad Jatoi will preside over the hearing scheduled for tomorrow.

The election body will announce the verdict of the prohibited funding case after eight years.

Interesting to note that the case was filed by the former PTI member Akbar S Baber after quitting the party.

However, the PTI got a verdict delayed by filing petitions before the courts.

The PMLN- led government has recently been urging the ECP to announce the long-delayed verdict.

The case has been pending since Nov 14, 2014. Babar, who is no longer associated with PTI, had alleged serious financial irregularities in the party’s funding from Pakistan and abroad.

The PTI has denied any wrongdoing and maintains the funding is not from prohibited sources. Last month, ECP reserved its verdict in the case.

The PTI says that it has provided details of as many as 40,000 donors from abroad to the ECP.
