Electricity crisis continues in Karachi for second consecutive day

Karachi(May 10, 2017): Electricity crisis continued in the Metropolitan city for the second consecutive day today. The fault damaged Bin Qasim power plant have not be removed so far, which caused the increase in load shedding in port city, Karachi.

K-Electric administration using load management system has further increased the load shedding duration in most parts of the city.

K-Electric’s new system added the load shedding duration one to three hours in areas, which are already facing 8 hours a day load shedding.

“Low gas pressure at one unit of Bin Qasim plant caused the increase in load shedding and the issue will be resolved as the gas pressure normalized,” K-electric spokesperson said in a statement.  It also said the demand of the electricity was 2400 megawatt but 1900 megawatt being supplied to city.

Scorching heat and unavailability of electricity are not only effecting daily life but also severely put adverse effect on industries and causing disruption their output.

The areas effected includes Defence, Buffer Zone, Abulhassan Asphani Road, Gulsitan-e-Jouhar, FB Area, Naizmabad, Gulshan Iqbal, Buhaderabad, Gulshan-e-Hadeed and other adjoining areas.
