KARACHI: Non-cadre DG of the Sindh Culture and Antiquities department, Manzoor Qanasro is reluctant to give more contracts to Waliullah Bhutto, a contractor who destroyed 300-year old gate of the Paka Qila in Hyderabad.
Sources within the department said that despite registration of case against contractor Waliullah Bhutto, the efforts are underway to save him, that clearly seconds the NAB’s report about declaring Bhutto, a front man of Qanasro brothers.
Manzoor Qanasro on the recommendations of his incarcerated brother, Roshan Qanasro has struck deal with Waliullah Bhutto to give him contracts worth Rs20 crores.
According to the officers of the Sindh Culture and Antiquities department, it seems that the provincial minister Sardar Shah and secretary, Akbar Leghari have forwarded their powers to the non-cadre DG of the department.
Sources said that Waliullah Bhutto after reaching the department misbehaved with the anti-Qanasro brothers officers and reportedly abused them.
The officers complained to the minister and secretary Leghari in written but no action has been taken against the contractor yet.
Provincial Minsiter Syed Sardar Shah and Secretary Akbar Leghari are being accused of patronizing the corrupt mafias in the department.
