Efforts Underway to Upgrade Entire Structure of Railways: Saad

Lahore (June 3, 2017): Pakistan Railways is making all out efforts to up-grade its entire infrastructure in order to improve the train service and facilities for passengers.

Presiding over two different meetings in this connection in Lahore today, Railways Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique has said that he wants to see all trains up-graded in the next two years.

He directed that traditional procedure of over hauling and repairing should be replaced with modern system and every repair work be done with latest technology.

The Minister was told that during the next two years 475 coaches will be up-graded and for this purpose capacity building of workshops is also being enhanced.

The Minister said railway stations of Bahawalpur, Nankana Saha b, Sahiwal, Okara, Raiwind and Hassan Abdal are being reconstructed besides up-gradation of Sibbi and Harnai railway station.

He said Kohat-Rawalpindi section is also being restored and Karachi Cantt station will also be up-graded.
