BAHAWALPUR: An elderly woman passed away due to hunger, while her sister is still receiving treatment in the hospital.
According to rescue services, on Saturday, neighbors informed them that two elderly women were found unconscious in a house in Lohar Wali Gali. When rescue personnel arrived, one woman had already passed away, and the other was transported to the hospital.
The surviving woman stated that both sisters had been starving and dehydrated for several days. According to the local residents, both women were unmarried and lived alone; there was no earning member in the household. The sisters also had a brother who has been missing for a long time.
The deceased elderly woman has been buried, and her sister, who is in the hospital, is still undergoing treatment. This tragic incident highlights issues of poverty and social neglect.
