ISLAMABAD: Hamid Raza claimed that the returning officer failed to declare him as a candidate representing the Sunni Ittehad Council Alliance PTI. However, the Election Commission’s spokesperson has dismissed these assertions as entirely unfounded.
According to the official statement, Hamid Raza listed “Sunni Ittehad Council Alliance PTI” on his nomination documents. Nevertheless, the Sunni Ittehad Council did not submit any formal alliance request nor did it seek a joint election symbol.
The spokesperson also clarified that the nomination form submitted by Hamid Raza was associated with PTI-Nazriati, and he did not include any party ticket or official endorsement from the Sunni Ittehad Council.
Based on the election guidelines, the Returning Officer allocated him the ‘Minar’ symbol, which designates him as an independent candidate.
