WEB DESK: Electricity consumers may face an increase of Rs. 1.27 per unit, as a request has been submitted to the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) for the monthly fuel price adjustment for April.

NEPRA is scheduled to review the CPPA’s request on April 29 and will deliver a decision thereafter.

In April, a total of 1.051 billion units of electricity were generated, while electricity companies supplied a higher volume of 1.096 billion units.

The cost per unit during this period was reported at 8.94 paisa, significantly exceeding the reference cost of 7.68 rupees, according to the Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA).

The energy mix for April’s electricity generation was diverse, with hydropower contributing 21.94%, local coal 14.51%, imported coal 10.02%, furnace oil 0.97%, domestic gas 8.01%, imported LNG 20.52%, and nuclear fuel accounting for 17.91%.
