Electricity Shortfall Reaches 6000 MW, People Lives Become Hell In Sweltering Heat

Karachi: Electricity shortfall across the country has reached 6000 MW as load shedding has made lives of people of Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore, Peshawar a hell.

Duration of load shedding has climbed to 16 hours in Karachi, electricity closed for four to six hours in Islamabad while seven to eight hours in Lahore, Peshawar and Quetta 10 hours load shedding is being carried out.

People in Karachi fed up with 16 hours of load shedding in sweltering heat as people of Surjani Town, New Karachi, Lyari, Orangi Town, Korangi, Baldiya and Landhi are the most effected areas.

The solely electricity supplier in Karachi, K-electric held responsible non-payment of dues reason behind the load shedding

Lahore Electric Supply Corporation (LESCO) demand has pinnacle of 5700 MW while short fall stood at 800 MW while 4,900 MW is being provided to LESCO from the National Grid Station. LESCO has issued a schedule of three and half hours load shedding.

There is a shortfall of 5,307 across the country.

According to the power division the overall production of electricity stood at 21, 293 MW while the country demand of electricity is 26, 600 MW.

As many as 4, 688 MW electricity is being generated from hydropower

The government run thermal plants are producing 1, 314 MW.

Electricity generation from private sector power plants is 12, 182 MW. Wind power plants producing 1, 567 MW and 118 MW from solar plants.
