Electricity Tariffs can be more lower Rs.6 for consumers

KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) leader Dr. Farooq Sattar stated on Friday that there remains an opportunity to reduce electricity rates by an additional Rs6 per unit.

Talking media men in Karachi, Dr. Farooq Sattar discussed the ongoing economic situation, highlighting a marginal decline in inflation rates.
He announced the plans to speak at an upcoming public gathering where he aims to persuade Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to further lower electricity tariffs for the citizens of Pakistan.

Dr. Sattar emphasized that the recent reduction in electricity charges marks the government’s initial step towards alleviating the financial burden on citizens. He expressed optimism that additional cuts in electricity rates would be announced prior to the federal budget presentation for the fiscal year 2025-26.

On Thursday, Federal Minister for Power Awais Leghari confirmed the government’s commitment to this cause, stating that electricity prices have been slashed by Rs. 7.41 per unit for residential users and Rs. 7.69 per unit for industrial consumers. Leghari highlighted this decision as a significant stride in fulfilling the government’s promises to the populace.

Additionally, he assured the public that the Power Division is diligently working towards further reductions and stabilizing electricity costs, guaranteeing ongoing enhancements in the power sector.
