Baghdad (May 30, 2017): At least 10 people were killed and 40 others wounded after a car bomb exploded near an ice cream shop in Baghdad in the wee hours of Tuesday.
According to the details a car bomb exploded in the busy al Hurriya Square in central Baghdad. Iraq’s Interior Ministry spokesman General Saad Maan said the blast occurred outside an ice cream shop.
Terrorists’ organization Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) claimed responsibility for the attack in a statement published on Twitter and Telegram.
The explosion came just days into the holy month of Ramazan when people fast during daylight hours. After sundown, families break their fast and Baghdad’s restaurants and cafes quickly fill up.
