100-day cleanliness drive of Mayor Karachi ends in utter failure

KARACHI: The 100-day cleanliness drive launched by Mayor Karachi Waseem Akhtar is ending today with heaps of garbage and waste littered everywhere in the city.

As per details, Mayor Karachi Waseem Akhtar after his release from jail had launched a 100-day cleanliness drive to clean the city of dirt and garbage. Today is the last day of the 100-day drive, the heaps of garbage and wastes are everywhere in the city.

The local governments authorities led by Akhtar miserably failed in lifting and disposing the waste and garbage. Whether it is a low-income neighborhood or posh areas, garbage and waste are everywhere unattended.

The city of 25 million populations is facing numerous problems but there is no one to address and resolve these. Mayor Karachi Waseem Akhtar, who give 10 out of 10 marks to the cleanliness drive, is also passing the bucks on Sindh government.

He says that he lacks powers and authority and whatever power and authority he has he performed well.

The city government selected 16 Union Councils of the three districts to be cleaned during the campaign. But after 99 days, the selected UCs heaps of garbage and waste are everywhere and sewerage waters is standing in many areas.
