Farmers alliance and Punjab govt talks successful

Farmers have ended their sit-in on Mall road after successful talks with Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif as provincial government has formed a committee to resolve farmers electricity bills related issues in chair of chief secretary.

Farmers Alliance central president Khalid Mahmood Khokhar led the delegation to met the CM Punjab late on Monday (night).

The CM said that “he knows the problems of the farmers adding that the country prosperity lies in prosperity of farmers” adding that the government always preferred farmer’s interest supreme and in future their problems will be resolved.  The CM Punjab ordered investigation after taking serious notice of the farmers complaints regarding gunny bags.

Shahbaz Sharif said that the Punjab government has given package of 100 billion rupees for farmers prosperity and welfare which will be spent with due consultation of the farmers representative and the pm and federal finance minister will also be approached to solve others problems of the farmers.

The CM Punjab has instructed LESCO, MEPCO, management that till 30 May receive only existing bills and their connections not cut until then, while the committee in presidency of chief secretary will sort ought procedure for electricity bills after meeting the farmers representatives.

After complete discussion with the CM, the famers president reached to the sit-in spot and announced talks success and to eng sit-in.

Khalid Khokhar said that “we are wrapping up our sit-in after assurance given by the CM to full fill our demands” if our demands not met till May 30 then they will not allow parliamentarians to present budget in the Punjab assembly.
