Polling for constituency of NA-63 and PP-232 gets underway for by-election in Jehlum which is to be continued without interval till 5pm while stringent security arrangements have been made in this regard.
The above NA-63 Jehlum seat had been lying vacant due to death of PML-N, MNA Nawabzada Iqbal Mehdi, where polling has begun for by-election whereas number of registered voters are 227,757 in constituency in which 198,400 women voters are included.
In addition 314 polling stations were set up in constituency for by-polls of which 39 polling stations declared sensitive while police and Pak Army personnel have been performing its duties at polling stations in order to deal any untoward situation, whereas today public holiday is announced by district administration.
A linchpin contest at NA-62 is expected between PML-N Nawabzada Matloob Mehdi and PTI’ Fawad Hussain Chaudhry.
On the other hand, polling process at PP-232 of Punjab Assembly seat has begun, the said seat was lying vacant after disqualification of PML-N Yousuf Kaseela while tough contest between PTI’s Ayesha Jatt and PML-N Chaudhry Yousuf are expected in by-election today.
