2-day Int’l Conference on Afghan Peace Begins in Jeddah

Kabul (July 10, 2018): Two days international conference on Afghan peace and stability begins in Jeddah today.

The summit will include senior religious scholars. It has been arranged by Saudi Arabia and Organization of Islamic Cooperation.In the final session of conference at Makkah, a declaration will be adopted on consolidation of peace and stability in Afghanistan.OIC Secretary-General Dr. Yousef Al-Othaimeen, Saudi Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr. Abdullatif bin Abdul Aziz Al-Asheikh and religious scholars from Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan, Egypt and other Muslim countries will attend the conference.On the other hand, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has arrived in Afghanistan on an unannounced visit. Pompeo stressed that peace must be made by Afghans.

Pompeo said the strategy is working and has sent a message to the people of Afghanistan that the United States supports them and sent a clear message to the Taliban that the Taliban cannot wait out the departure of the United States.
