21 Killed, 30 Injured in Brazilian Road Pileup  

RIO DE JANEIRO:  At least 21 people were killed and 30 others injured when a truck laden with rocks collided with a bus and two ambulances in southern Brazil on Thursday.  

The accident occurred near the city of Guarapari in the state of Espirito Santo when the truck slammed into the bus and the two ambulances behind it that were coming in the opposite direction. It was the third major road accident in Brazil this month.

The injured were taken to hospital in Guarapari, near the site of the tragedy, the state security department said. Thirteen of the dead were in the bus, while the other victims were in the ambulances and truck.

The press office of the state’s Public Security Department said the truck driver and an ambulance driver were among the dead.
