21st Constitutional Amendment Bill tabled in NA

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Law Pervaiz Rashid tabled the 21st Constitutional Amendment Bill and Pakistan Army Act (Amendment) Bill 2015 in the National Assembly on Saturday.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was also present in the house on the occasion.

The constitutional amendment bill would need to be passed by two-thirds of the total participants in both the 342-seat National Assembly and the 104-seat Senate. The amendment in the Army Act, however, required simple majority.

The bill tabled by the government in the lower house of the parliament will be approved clause-wise in the assembly on Monday.

The amendment bill states that Army Act 1952, Pakistan Navy Ordinance 1961, Pakistan Air Force 1953 would also be amended.

Modifications will be introduced in Protection of Pakistan Act 2014, it said and added that no one will be trialed without the consent of the federal government. But in a bill it is highly mention that the government have a authority to transfers the hearing case from any court to military court.

The NA session was postponed till Monday 4pm.
