Effective counter-narrative is vital to get rid of extremism: Maryam

Karachi (May 06, 2017): Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb says an effective counter-narrative is imperative to rid the country of extremism and terrorism.

She was speaking at a consultative meeting with the stakeholders to develop Pakistan’s first film policy in Karachi today.

The Minister of State said the government’s bold decisions of carrying out Operation Zarb-e-Azb, the Karachi operation and Operation Radul Fassad have proved quite effective to restore peace in the country.

Marriyum Aurangzeb says government is taking concrete measures for revival of Film Industry of the country. She said youth of the country needs to reconnect with its culture and heritage, which was neglected in the past.

She said Film Policy 2017 is being prepared in this regard and will be announced very soon. She said government would provide all possible facilities to filmmakers of the country.

The Minister of State said filmmakers would be provided full assistance to import modern equipment and machineries.

To a question she said the issue of terrorism has been overcome by the government due to its effective anti-terrorism policy.

She said special arrangements are being made for the 70th year celebrations of the country under the directions of the Prime Minister.
