JI is all set to Resume Protest against K-Electric Shahra-e-Faisal

According To the details, JI  protesters are gathering at Karachi’s main Shahrah e Faisal to protest against the load shedding and Over billing in Karachi once again.  With any kind of situation, a contingent of police and an armored vehicle has reached the area. A water canon is also present at the site of the protest.

Earlier, JI Amir Hafiz Naeem announced that the party would protest against load shedding, over-billing and looting of billions of rupees by KE.

He had further said that if efforts were made to stop the peaceful protest then all the responsibility for the bad situation of the city would be on the government and administration.

The Governor’s writ is absent or he is involved in the matter, claimed Naeem, adding that Zubair should be a part of the protest for the rights of Karachi’s residents. Hafiz Naeem had said that to ensure the peaceful protest, a concrete plan was put into place.

Hafiz Rehman had demanded from the power utility to cease over-billing, fuel adjustment, double bank charges, meter rent and return back about Rs 200 billion to the people of Karachi. The spokesperson of K-Electric had refuted the claims of over-billing.

Earlier, Governor Sindh Muhammad Zubair  urged K-Electric to reduce cut the duration of power load shedding during the fasting month of Ramzan.

Sindh High Court has also summoned the top officials of the captive power generator and distributor to the most populated and economic engine of the country- Karachi- on May 29 in the case pertaining to extensive unannounced power load shedding.

Expressing anger at the massive, frequent, and longish unannounced power load shedding the court said that K-Electric should tell it what measures it has taken to check the power outages.

The court not sit over the unannounced power load shedding by the K-Electric, an angry court said.

Meanwhile, arguing his case against the power entity Faisal Siddiqui advocate told the court that NEPRA (National Electric Power Regulatory Authority) had directed the K-Electric to refrain from load shedding. Power load shedding in Karachi has scaled every height and the people are facing tremendous problems and difficulties because of it, he added.

When Faisal  informed the court that much time has already elapsed since the filing of the petition after the deadly heat wave the Justice Irfan Saadat Khan said that hundreds of people were killed by power load shedding then.

When K-Electric’s counsel attributed falling down of electric poles in Jamshoro plus shortage of natural gas fuel for power load shedding and also said that Sindh government too is protesting against the gas load shedding Faisal rebutted that is resorting to inequitable load shedding which is particularly more frequent and longish in poor and suburban areas of the city.

At this point in time when Faisal asked the court to issue order laws and regulations related to power load shedding as per NEPRA laws K-Electric’s counsel plead the court to stop the order over the power load shedding from appearing in the media. The E-Electric counsel confessed that his client is facing over 600 megawatt shortfall.
