Cardiff(June 10, 2017): Pakistan Cricket Team training session has been continued for playing its last group match against Sri Lanka , the match is scheduled to play on Monday at Sophia Garden of Cardiff. Pakistan has to have win this match in order to place its position in semi-finals.
Looking to beat Sri Lanka in Monday’s Pool B game and secure a place in the ICC Champions Trophy last-four, Pakistan seemed brimming with confidence as they trained hard under grey skies and cold conditions.
Sri Lanka’s bashing against triumphing India in yesterday’s Champions Trophy clash has made it very clear that there is no room for error for any the team’s in-group B to qualify for semifinals.
The situation is that Sunday’s India and South Africa match and Monday s Sri Lanka and Pakistan match have been turned into virtual quarterfinals. Whichever team wins its next match will qualify for semifinals.
Pakistan might keep their inning combination for Monday’s game though a team official said that a final decision on the playing line-up will only be made after taking a long, hard look at the wicket and playing conditions.
All the matches in this group has resulted in India, South Africa, Sri Lanka, and Pakistan having played two matches and emerged victorious in one match each so far.
Earlier, Sri Lanka stupefied India in ICC Champions Trophy 2017 as they chased the target of 321 runs in the second last over to record their first win in the tournament.
Batting first, India scored 321 for the loss of six wickets in 50 overs. Sri Lanka chased the target in a beguiling fashion to stun India in critical combat of Group B.
