Funeral Prayers of Martyred Navy Personnel Offered in Karachi

Karachi(June 20, 2017): The funeral prayers of two Pakistan Navy personnel, Syed Hassan Raza (medical technician) and Khalil Murad (leading fireman) who were martyred on Monday — were held on Tuesday.

According to a press release, the personnel were martyred during a terrorist attack on a Pakistan Navy vehicle in Jiwani, Gwadar on Monday.

Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Muhammad Zakaullah, who was present at the funeral in Karachi, condemned the gory attack on the Pakistan Navy personnel and consoled the bereaved families.The naval chief expressed his deep grief and sorrow over the incident, saying that such heinous and cowardly acts cannot deter the national resolve of Pakistan Navy to stand against terrorism.

The admiral added that the sacrifices of the martyred people for national defence and to root out terrorism from the country are highly praiseworthy. He maintained that handful of terrorists cannot succeed in their nefarious design of destabilising the country.

The naval chief reiterated that Pakistan Navy, in collaboration with other law-enforcement agencies, is committed to eradicate the menace of terrorism in the country.

The admiral prayed for eternal peace of the martyred souls and grant of courage to the bereaved families to bear the loss and prayed for the swift recovery of those injured.

The naval chief also visited the injured personnel at PNS Shifa hospital in Karachi and also met families of the deceased and injured.Besides Pakistan Navy senior officials, personnel of sister services, relatives, friends and a large number of people also attended the funeral.

Yesterday, Two Navy personnel were killed and four other sustained injures in an apparently terrorist attack on a Navy vehicle in Jawani, Gwadar.

The Naval spokesperson said in a statement that vehicle came under attack near Jawani by armed persons that injured five Navy personnel, however two of them could not succumbed to their injuries as arrival in hospital.

The injured have been shifted to Karachi for further treatment, he said.

Security was tightened after the incident and a search operation was launched in the area to apprehend those involved in the attack.

On May 13, At least 10 labourer were killed and another injured in firing in Gwadar. As per reports, the firing incidents occurred in Pushkan area in Gunnes Road area of the port city.

According to official sources, unknown attackers opened firing on labourers engaged in construction activities at construction site of a company. As many as 10 people were killed and one injured in the incident.

The attackers managed to flee after committing the crime. FC and other law enforcement agencies personnel rushed to the site of the firing soon after getting news of the incident.

It is to be mentioned here the largest province of the country is facing separatist insurgency and sectarian and militant violence for last many years. Though in recent years, law and order situation in the province has improved to greater extent but the separatists and sectarian militants occasionally carry out attack in the province.
