Khuzdar (May 20, 2017): At least 26 insurgents belonging to different outlawed groups surrendered their weapons to the authorities in Khuzdar district on Friday.
The insurgents surrendered as part of the ongoing reconciliation process in Balochistan. They surrendered at a ceremony organised at the Kalat Scouts campus in Khuzdar.
Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Senator Niamatullah Khan Zehri, Commandant Kalat Scouts Colonel Rizwan Afzal and other officials were present in the weapons laying ceremony.
The militants laid down their weapons under the leadership of commander Omar Baloch, who had belonged to an banned organisation.
The insurgents assured, “We are denouncing violence and will now work for the country and nation.”
While addressing the ceremony, Senator Niamatullah Khan Zehri said “We are civilian soldiers of Pakistan.” He said that enemies of Pakistan were bent upon hatching conspiracies and carrying out subversive activities inside Balochistan. Col Rizwan welcomed the ex-militants and urged them to work for the peace and development of Pakistan.
