Nawaz Decides Strategy on NAB Summons in Important Meeting

Lahore (August 21, 2017): Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif chaired on Monday a meeting to review the current political situation of the country.

According to the details, Nawaz Sharif met party leaders in Raiwind, where he discussed the future strategy of his family on corruption references filed by National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on the orders of Supreme Court of Pakistan in Panama case verdict.

The session was attended by Chief Minister (CM) Punjab Shahbaz Sharif, Hamza Sharif, Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah, provincial ministers and local administration incharges. Sources told that the Sharif family has decided its strategy on NAB summons.

Other attendees included Tariq Fatemi, Minister for Information Marriyum Aurangzeb, Minister for Privatisation Daniyal Aziz, Minister for Interior Talal Chaudhry and Minister for Capital Administration and Development Division Tariq Fazal Chaudhry and Spokesperson of the Prime Minister Musadiq Malik and Pervaiz Rashid.According to sources, the consultation meeting discussed various issues including Sharif family’s future strategy on NAB references filed against them. Ruling party Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) raised objections of NAB summons and references. They discussed whether to appear before NAB despite review appeals against SC Panama case decision.

Moreover, PML-N leaders expressed full support in Nawaz Sharif s leadership, adding to pursue policies and projects. They decided to play the role of The Wall of China for the supremacy of constitution.

It was brought to light in the meeting to run the system of the municipalities on the basis of integration.

Sharif in his directions said that municipalities are for the welfare of the public and they should toil continuously to bring relief to people.According to sources, before the meeting, Sharif held a meeting with the CM Punjab.

Recently, the former prime minister held his political journey from the Punjab House, Islamabad along with a huge caravan comprising hundreds of vehicles and thousands of supporters towards his hometown, Lahore. The rally was aimed at showing political power before the general elections in 2018.

The former prime minister on Tuesday filed three petitions in the Supreme Court to review the Panama Papers verdict which resulted in his disqualification.

Sharif had stepped down as the prime minister of Pakistan on July 28 after being disqualified from holding public office by the Supreme Court in a landmark decision in the Panama Papers case.
