Islamabad (August 18, 2017): During the last five years, 298 Indian nationals were granted Pakistani nationality, a report submitted by Interior Ministry in the National assembly said.
The details over granting nationality to Indians were provided, when a question was raised during the Question Hour of the Assembly session.
Responding to the question, Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal also informed the House that in 2012 Pakistani nationality were granted to 48 Indians; in 2013 75 Indians were granted Pakistan nationality; while the most Indians were nationalized in the year 2014. Interior Minister told NA that 15 Indians were nationalized in 2015, 69 Indians were granted Pakistani nationality in 2016, while 15 Indians have been nationalized in 2017 in last eight months.
The House was also informed by the Interior Minister that a gate has been constructed at the border with Iran, while barbed wires are being laid down on both sides of the road for 126 kilometers.
The house was also informed that no suggestion is under consideration for the closure of Pak-Afghan border but 50 new Frontier Corps posts have been constructed to keep the check on the movements of terrorists.
