3-Day Envoys’ Moot Concludes in Islamabad

Islamabad (Sep 7, 2017): The three-day moot of selected ambassadors of Pakistan in different countries concluded here in Islamabad today.

Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi chaired the concluding session of the conference. The Prime Minister gave instructions and guidelines to the ambassadors regarding country’s foreign policy.

Foreign Minister Khuwaja Asif brief the moot during the concluding session. Briefing the moot,  the minister underlined the need to change the perspective about the world. He said that major changes were taking place in the regions.He said that Pakistan wanted relations with US based on mutual trust and respect. He added that people sitting in Washington did not know how much terrorism Pakistan was facing.  He added that Gen Zia and Gen Musharraf’s foreign policies were a burden on the country. “We need to get rid of the policy,” he added.

He also underlined the need to continue dialogue with Afghanistan, adding that we need to determine right direction immediately.Asif said that Pakistan was winning the war against terrorism. “Whether the world accept it or not the fact of the matter is that there is peace from Swat to Karachi,” he noted. Army, Police and other institutions had great role in the success, he added.

The minister said that Pakistan was considering measures to further cement its relations with friendly countries. He said that he would go to China and Iran and Pakistan case would also be presented in the United Nations.

He said that the Pakistan was reviewing over its relations with India. Asif said that the issue of foreign policy would be taken to Parliament and National Security Committee so that a new policy can be prepared.
