3 Hazaras Injured in Quetta Gun Attack

Quetta (December 22, 2017): At least three members of the Hazara community were injured when gunmen opened fire on their vehicle in Quetta’s Western Bypass area on Friday.

According to Deputy Inspector General Abdul Razzaq Cheema, 12 people were travelling from Quetta to Karachi in a large van when unknown assailants opened fire at their vehicle, injuring three passengers.

The injured have been shifted to the District Medical Complex Bolan, where one of the wounded is said to be in critical condition.

Earlier in the day, four terrorists were killed during action taken by FC in mountainous areas of Sibbi.

According to public relations arm of Pak army ISPR, terrorists opened fire when FC acting on the tip about the presence of terrorists conducted a search operation in northern mountainous range of Sibbi and Gaddi Mogazaikur area of Turbat.

During the fire exchange four terrorists hiding in secret hideout were killed.

A statement released by ISPR said that the terrorists were making threatening calls to residents of the area and that arms and ammunition were recovered from terrorists’ hideout.Balochistan has been experiencing incidents of violence and targeted killings since more than a decade. More than 1,400 incidents targeting the minority Shia and Hazara community have taken place in the province during the past 15 years.While sectarian terrorism in Balochistan has disproportionately targeted the Hazara community, easily identifiable because of their distinctive physical appearance, other Shias — especially pilgrims travelling to and from Iran — have not been spared either.
