Addis Ababa (June 25, 2018): Thirty people have been arrested over alleged involvement in a grenade attack that killed two people at a Prime Minister rally in Ethiopia on Saturday.
More than 150 people were injured in this attack in Meskel Square in the centre of Addis Ababa.The rally, attended by tens of thousands, was in support of Abiy Ahmed who took office in April.
The blast occurred just after PM Abiy finished his address and was waving to the crowd of tens of thousands in a packed square in Addis Ababa. Someone from the crowd tried to throw a hand grenade towards the stage.

Abiy said in his statement after the incident that it was an unsuccessful attempt by forces who do not want to see Ethiopia united.
