N League wins decisive battle of NA-120 by-election

LAHORE( Sep 17, 2017): According to the unverified and unofficial results, PML-N’s candidate Kulsoom Nawaz has won the by-polls on NA-120 Lahore as she got 61,254 votes while Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf candidate Dr Yasmin Rashid secured  47,066 votes from the 220 polling stations in the constituency.

Yaqoob Sheikh, an independent candidate backed by the newly formed Milli Muslim League (MML), stood third according to the provisional results while PPP’s Faisal Mir was fourth.

Milli Muslim League candidate managed to get 4,174 votes, while Pakistan Peoples Party candidate got 2,520 votes.

The voting process, which began at 08:00 am continued till 05:00 pm without any break and extension in voting time.

NA-120 seat had fallen vacant after former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s disqualification by the Supreme Court on July 28.

Meanwhile, PTI candidate Dr. Yasmin Rashid vowed to approach court against the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) over alleged registration of 29,000 bogus votes in NA-120.
