Sri Lanka Set 136-Run Target for Pakistan in First Test

Abu Dhabi(October 2, 2017): Leg spinner Yasir Shah, bamboozled the Sri Lankan batting lineup after the, islanders collapsed on 138, as Pakistan needs 135 runs to win on the fifth day of the first Test on Monday.

Leggie Shah claimed his career eleventh five wicket haul, as he dismissed the Sri Lankan tail enders, also claiming the all important wicket of Lankan skipper Dinesh Chandimal on 7 runs.

Meanwhile, medium pacer Mohammad Abbas claimed two wickets of Kusal Mendis and Suranga Lakmal. Mohammad Abbas set the tone early by removing Mendis and the nightwatchman in his opening spell.

Shah then got rid of MDK Perera for 6 and Herath for golden duck, reducing Sri Lanka to 101-8 with a lead of 98 runs.

On Sunday, Yasir Shah grabbed the key wicket of Dinesh Chandimal to leave Sri Lanka fighting to avoid defeat.

It was tough to negotiate spin on a fourth-day Sheikh Zayed Stadium pitch, but despite a 32nd Test five-wicket haul for veteran Sri Lankan spinner Rangana Herath, Pakistan posted 422 to take a slender three-run lead.

Sri Lanka had made 419 in their first innings. Herath´s 5-93 in 40 overs were well foiled by a brilliant 76 by Test debutant Haris Sohail, as initially, it looked as though Sri Lanka would take a first-innings lead.
