Shin Injury Puts Muhammad Amir Out of Dubai Test, ODI Series

Web Desk(October 8, 2017):  As feared, Mohammad Amir was ruled out of the One-Day International series against Sri Lanka starting next week after suffering a stress-related injury in his right shin and was set to be replaced by Usman Khan Shinwari, another left-arm pacer, the Pakistan Cricket Board said.

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) said the 25-year-old had an MRI scan, after which he was advised to rest for two to three weeks.

Amir limped off the field after bowling just three overs on the second day of Pakistan’s ongoing second and final Test, a day-night affair, against Sri Lanka in Dubai on Saturday.

It emerged that Amir, 25, aggravated an old problem in his shin during the opening day’s play after bowling just three deliveries of his 17th over.

Amir has struggled to pick up wickets in this series. He bowled 39 overs without luck in the first Test, which Pakistan went on to lose by 21 runs in Abu Dhabi.
