Nawaz, Maryam, Safdar Most Likely To Be Indicted Tomorrow

ٰIslamabad (October 12, 2017): Accountability court will indict sacked premier Nawaz Sharif, his daughter Maryam Nawaz and son-in-law Captain (retd) Safdar on October 13 as the family members were summoned by the judge for the respective day.

While these three will be indicted, Sharif brothers Hassan and Hussain will be summoned once again and their warrants have been affixed on the walls of NAB court.

Previously, the judge had allowed one-day immunity to Sharif family and summoned them on October 13.It was announced that the indictment will be heard on the day. The judge had expressed his fury over absence of the members of Sharif family. The court had decided to separate cases of each member in order to differentiate between present and absent suspects.Nawaz Sharif, Hassan Nawaz and Hussain Nawaz are nominated suspects in references regarding Park Lane apartments, Al Azizia Steel Mills and offshore companies, while Maryam Nawaz and her husband Capt (retd) Safdar are nominated in reference regarding Park Lane apartments alone.

According to the affixed warrants of Hassan Nawaz and Hussain Nawaz outside court, they will be declared fugitives if they don’t appear before accountability court within the duration of one month.Earlier, daughter of deposed prime minister Nawaz Sharif conducted a meeting in Lahore before leaving for Islamabad today. She consulted with the MPL-N leaders and close aides and discussed various important matters including her appearance before the accountability court.

PML-N leader has reached in Islamabad and staying at her relatives residence, while she will appear before the accountability court tomorrow, Friday, at 9:30 am.

On October 9, Maryam Nawaz appeared before the accountability court.  

Talking to media after appearing before the accountability court in NAB reference Maryam Nawaz criticized what she said discrimination in accountability process.She said that those fleeing accountability were not being arrested.

She said that they were not afraid of arrests, saying that proclaimed offender were holding public meetings across the country but no one was bothered to arrest them.

Sharif, who first went to London on August 30, returned to the country on September 25 to face the Supreme Court-directed corruption cases against him.At the last hearing, on October the accountability court approved the bail of Maryam and Safdar after they appeared in court.

Judge Mohammad Bashir also approved the National Accountability Bureau’s (NAB) plea to declare Nawaz’s sons, Hasan and Hussain, proclaimed offenders and separated their proceedings in the three references filed against them. Their non-bailable arrest warrants, issued at the last hearing on October 2, remain in effect.
