Aussie Pacer Pattinson to Undergo Spinal Surgery

Canberra(November 2, 2017): Injury-prone Aussie paceman, James Pattinson, is set to undergo extensive spinal surgery in an attempt to prolong his playing future.

The 27-year-old had been plagued by stress fractures of the back throughout his career. Now the Victorian quick, who’s already been ruled out of this summer’s Ashes battle, faces a complex procedure which involves a series of screws, wires and a bone graft from his hip.

Pattinson has managed just 17 Test for Australia since he made his debut, against New Zealand, in 2011.

And it’s across the ditch where Pattinson’s last-ditch bid of returning to the longer format of the game rests.

“He wants to play Test cricket and he’s obviously a very good Test bowler, so our goal is to get him back to Test cricket.”

Pattinson has not played a Test match in 18 months.
