Asma Case: Police Unable To Nab Culprits After 11 Days

Mardan (January 25, 2018): Eleven days have passed after four-year-old Asma’s murder in Mardan but the authorities are still unable to nab the culprits.

The police have completed initial interrogation from Asma’s parents and relatives, and are waiting for the forensic report. People on the other hand have demanded to arrest the offenders as soon as possible.

Asma had gone missing on January 14 in Mardan’s Gujar Garhi area, and her dead body was found from sugarcane fields near her home on January 15 after rape.

More than 200 persons have been interrogated till now, and the minor’s parents have also appeared before the joint investigation team (JIT) along with other relatives.

The area is still in the grip of grief, and the locals are not only demanding the authorities to arrest the responsible persons but also to take measures in order to stop wicked activities of such kind in future.

Earlier on Tuesday, Chief Minister Punjab Shehbaz Sharif extended ‘sincere’ cooperation to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government in the Aasma murder case.

“Aasma was a daughter of the soil just like Zainab,” said Shehbaz while addressing a press conference about the Zainab rape and murder case. “I plead political leaders to not be insensitive toward these issues.”
