Web-Desk (February 08, 2018): ‘Manikarnika’ the Bollywood’s another movie to become controversial after Sanjay Lila Bhansali’s ‘Padmaavat’.
This film is none other than Kangana Ranaut’s much-awaited film ‘Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi’. The film was accused of distorting the historical facts by the protesting groups.
The film is reportedly based on Rani, authored by Jaishree Misra, which claims that the queen of Jhansi had an affair with British officer Robert Ellis; the book had been previously banned in 2008 by the then Mayawati-led Uttar Pradesh government.Misra said, “We learnt about it from our friends and acquaintances in various parts of Rajasthan where some scenes of the film are being shot. The film is based on a foreigner’s book and tries to dampen the queen’s reputation.”
‘Manikarnika: The Queen Of Jhansi’ is directed by Krish Jagarlamudi and produced by Kamal Jain and Zee Studios.
As reported by the Indian Express, Sarva Brahman Mahasabha president Suresh Mishra held a press conference in Jaipur to address the issue where he also claimed that there are scenes in the film portraying a love affair between Rani of Jhansi and a British man.
The film is set to release later this year.
