LAHORE: Fans remember one of the foremost romantic hero Darpan, the younger brother of famous lollywood hero Santosh Kumar on his 39th Death Anniversary today (Friday).
Darpan was the screen name of Syed Ishrat Hussain, one of the original romantic heroes of the “golden age” of the Pakistan Film Industry.
He was introduced in film Amanat in 1950 and after only one more film Billo, he left Pakistan and tried his luck in Mumbai, where he appeared in two Indian films Barati and Adl-e-JahangiDarpan came back to Lahore after few years, where film industry was booming and he acted in the film Baap ka Gunnah. But, he got breakthrough from his own produced film Saathi.
Some of his major films are Raat keRahi, Saheli, Gulfam, Qaidi, Anchal, Baji, Shikwa, Ik Tera Sahara, Naela and Ik Musafir Ik Haseena.
He was married to film actress Nayyar Sultana and had a strong background in the industry as his brothers Santosh Kumar and S. Suleman were also associated with cinema for over 3 decades.
The legendary actor died in Lahore on November 8, 1980.
