Election Commission approved deployment of Rangers and Army for third phase of LG elections in 12 districts. While Chief Election Commissioner Sardar Raza Khan has said that Prime Minister, Ministers and governments come and go, while he asked electoral staff to perform their duties without caring anyone.
Chief Election Commissioner Sardar Raza Khan chaired an important meeting regarding third phase of Local Bodies elections. The meeting considered to deploy military and Rangers in the light of DROs report.
Addressing the meeting, Chief Election Commissioner asked electoral staff to perform their duties without caring anyone. He said that third phase of Local Bodies elections will be held with efficiently just like second and third phase, while there will be no compromise on security. He asked all officers to remain unbiased and provide equal ground to all political parties and candidates.
The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Punjab, IG Punjab, Municipal Secretary, DG Military Operation and GHQ representatives.
IG Punjab told to media that Police would control polling station’s security . Rangers to be deployed according to polling stations sensitivity, adding that he has proposed to deploy Army as rapid quick- response force.
