Web Desk(June 24, 2018): Pakistan will face Australia in their second match of the Champions Trophy taking place in Breda, Netherlands today.
Australia, one of the most successful teams in the Champions Trophy with 14 titles under its belt, will be looking to add another win to its list of glory.
Earlier, India outclassed arch-rivals Pakistan 4-0 in their opening game of the Champions Trophy 2018.
Ramandeep Singh, Dilpreet Singh, Mandeep Singh and Lalit Upadhyay scored for India as they opened their FIH Champions Trophy campaign in style.India opened their account with Ramandeep Singh’s tap-in in the 25th minute. Pakistan dominated the possession in the first half, but failed to register shot on target.While India won two PCs in the first half, even though hey missed both they were more decisive in their attack.
However, India dominated the last 10 minutes of the game. They scored in the 54th, 57th and 60th minute of the game to win the match 4-0 in Breda, The Netherlands.Pakistan won the inaugural edition of the Champions Trophy held in Lahore in 1978 when they beat Australia in the final.
Four years later, Pakistan picked up their second title beating West Germany in Karachi. The last time Pakistan picked up the Champions Trophy title was in 1994 in Lahore, when they beat Germany (7–6) on penalty strokes.
