Entertainment Desk (November 17, 2018): Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan will reportedly play the role of Forrest Gump in the Bollywood remake of the film.
According to Pinkvilla, the actor has bought the rights to the 1994 Tom Hanks starrer and will be reuniting with Secret Superstar director Advait Chandan for the film.
In August reports had emerged that Khan had bought tights to the film. “Aamir wants to make Forrest Gump in Hindi, which he will star in. He wants to play the lead role that Tom Hanks had essayed in the original. It has been on his wishlist for some time.”
“Scripting is currently underway. Aamir wants his team to rework the whole narrative, setting it in the Indian context,” the report further stated.Based on the 1986 novel by Winston Groom, Forrest Gump is romantic comedy-drama film, Directed by Robert Zemeckis and written by Eric Roth, the movie stars Hanks, Robin Wright, Gary Sinise, Mykelti Williamson and Sally Field.
The movie chronicled several decades in the life of Forrest Gump played by Hanks, a slow-witted but kind-hearted man from Alabama.
The movie went on to win the Academy Awards for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Visual Effects and Best Film Editing with Hanks bagging the Best Actor award.
