Abu Dhabi, 3rd ODI: Pakistan sets target of 309 runs against WI

ABU DHABI: Captain Azhar Ali and Babar Azam’s splendid centuries helped Pakistan to score and set a target of 309 runs against West Indies.

Pakistan won the toss and let West Indies to field first, after which Pakistani opener Sharjeel Khan and Captain Azhar Ali scored 85 runs. Sharjeel Khan got run out at 38, after which Azhar Ali and Babar Azam maintained splendid partnership of 147 runs. Captain Azhar Ali was out after scoring his first century against West Indies and third century of his career. Azhar played the innings of 101 runs. Babar Azam succeeded to maintain his previous two matches record and scored third century in this match as well. Babar Azam was out at 117 runs, Shoaib Malik at 5, Mohammed Rizwan and Imad Waseem got run out after scoring four runs each. Besides vice captain Sarfaraz Ahmed scored 24 runs and Mohammed Nawaz was not out scoring four runs.

West Indian bowlers Jason Holder, Sunil Narin, Suleman Ben, Karen Polard and Jones Charles took one wicket each.

Today’s match is decisive for Pakistan, as after winning today’s match, Pakistan will qualify for eight position in ICC Ranking and Pakistan will survive from playing qualifying round for World Cup. Besides Fast Bowler Wahab Riaz needed two wickets to complete his wicket century and he can become 19th Pakistani bowler to achieve that milestone.

It must be pertinent to recall that Pakistan has a lead of 2-0 in the series, while West Indies still could not win a single match in the series.
