Abu Dhabi Test: Kangaroos Resume Batting On 2nd Day

Abu Dhabi (October 17, 2018): Australia on Wednesday has resumed its 1st innings against Pakistan from an overnight score of  28 runs for the loss of two wickets.

Earlier Pakistan was all out at 282 runs against Australia.

Debutant Fakhar Zaman and skipper Sarfraz Ahmed both scored 94 and together added 147 for the sixth wicket after Pakistan were attacked by spinner Nathan Lyon with four wickets off six balls in the first session. Lyon finished with 4-79 while leg-spinner Marnus Labuschagne took 3-45.

Earlier, Pakistan’s decision to bat first after winning the toss proved to be wrong in Abu Dhabi as Australian bowler Nathan Lyon took four wickets in six delivers as Pakistan lost five wickets for 60 runs in the morning session. Mohammad Hafeez was the first to return to the pavilion as Mitchell Starc removed him for four.

Azhar Ali was next to go after scoring 15 runs. He was followed by Haris Sohail, Asad Shafiq and Babar Azam who returned to the dressing room without adding any runs to the scoreboard.

Earlier on October 11, the first test match between Australia and Pakistan concluded on a draw.

Even though Yasir Shah took three wickets in quick succession to revive Pakistan’s hopes for victory, the lull that followed soon after made the game quite uninteresting by the last over. His third and fourth victim in the game were Mitchell Starc (1) and Peter Siddle (0) soon after he had taken the crucial wicket of set batsmen and hero of the day — Usman Khawaja.

Pakistan expected early wickets after jolting Australia to 136-3 at the close on the fourth day, but nothing worked for skipper Sarfraz Ahmed, who made multiple bowling changes.
