AC Adjourns Assets Case Hearing Against SA Speaker Till May 10

KARACHI: Accountability Court on Friday approved National Accountability Bureau’s (NAB) plea and given some more time to the anti-graft watchdog for the conclusion of the inquiry against the Speaker Sindh Assembly Agha Siraj Durrani and adjourned the case’s hearing till May 10.

As per details, Sindh Speaker Agha Siraj Durrani was produced before an Accountability Court in Karachi.

The anti-graft watchdog sought some more time from the court for the completion of the ongoing probe against him during the hearing. To which, the court questioned why the NAB needs some more time.

At which, the investigation officer told the court that the probe is underway and the inquiry is incomplete.

On the other hand, Sindh Speaker pleaded the court for the allocation of B-Class in the prison. Agha’s counsel while submitting B-Class’s application said that he hopes that the anti-graft body doesn’t have any reservation on it.

The court then issued the orders for shifting Agha Siraj to B-Class jail.

The court then by accepting NAB’s plea adjourned the case’s hearing till May 10.

It is pertinent to mention here that Agha Siraj Durrani was produced before the court upon the completion of his judicial remand.

Earlier on April 12, Accountability Court rejected National Accountability Bureau’s (NAB) plea for extending the remand of Sindh Speaker Agha Siraj Durrani in assets beyond the known source of income case and sent the accused on judicial remand.

As per details, Sindh Speaker Agha Siraj Durrani was produced before Accountability Court in Karachi upon the completion of his judicial remand.

The anti-graft watchdog’s prosecutor during the hearing told the court that the Sindh Speaker is not co-operating with the NAB officials so another 15 days physical remand should be given.

The NAB prosecutor also told the court that other accused in the case have got pre-arrest bails, and the investigations officer has been changed in the said case.

After hearing the argument by NAB’s prosecutor rejected NAB’s plea and ordered to send Agha Siraj Durrani to jail on judicial remand.
