Islamabad (October 11, 2018): An Accountability court on Thursday issued non-bailable arrest warrants for former prime minister Shaukat Aziz.
Hearing the corruption referenced against former PM and other members of then cabinet accountability Court Judge Arshad Malik issued the arrest warrants.
The court issued the arrest warrant of Shaukat Aziz and Allowdin Akhter for their continuous absence from a court proceeding, however, the request of Liaqat Ali Jatoi, Shahid Hamid and Naeem Akhter for impunity accepted.
Later the hearing has been adjourned till November 1.
On July 30, the National Accountability Bureau has approved the filing of a corruption reference against former prime minister Shaukat Aziz.
According to the notification issued by the NAB, former minister for power and water Liaquat Jatoi was also nominated in the corruption reference.

The NAB stated that in violation of the code of conduct, the suspects are accused of appointing Basharat Hasan Bashir consultant. Bashir did not leave his office despite his tenure ending after five years.
