Islamabad (October 24, 2017): Academic activities at Qauid-e-Azam University resumed amid tight security and presence of security personnel at the campus. The 79 students arrested yesterday were also released today on what police said assurances that they would not disrupt academic activities.
As per details, despite reopening after about three weeks closure due to students protest, the situation at QAU could not be normalized. Though academic activities resumed but only under strict security arrangements.
The shuttle services of the university is also operating and employees and students of the university are also being allowed entry only after thorough search.However, the protesting students and their supporters continued their boycott of classes. Though police released the 79 students arrested yesterday from Secretariat Police Station, three FIR were arrested against students for creating disturbances yesterday in the university campus.
University administration says that police and FC would stand guard at the campus till normalization of situation and no one would be allowed to create disturbance and hinder academic activities.On the other hands, representatives of the protesting students have announced to hold demonstration outside National Press Club to press the University administration to accept their demands.
